5TH Fleet

The action takes place in the vast and volatile region bounded on the west by the Gulf of Suez and the Horn of Africa, and on the east by Malaysia. Along with the Indian Ocean, this theater of war also includes all the vital Mid Eastern waterways and strategic choke-points. Eleven scenarios are included, all predicated on the supposition that large segments of the former Soviet Navy become engaged with various client-states in this unstable region. Thus, in addition to the familiar old USSR vessels, the player may find himself confronting Indonesian Pakistani, or Indian units.

Advance Civilization

The game play involves a map of the Mediterranean Sea and surrounding lands, where each player controls one civilization chosen from a set of nine: Africa, Asia, Assyria, Babylon, Crete, Egypt, Illyria, Italy (also named Iberia) and Thrace. Players move population units across the board, taking over territories and competing with their opponents for the most sought after land. Once your population reaches a sufficient size, you can congregate the units into cities. These cities can later be attacked for valuable plunder and to deal a blow to your opponents' chances of winning. The primary source
of damage to players' civilizations comes from calamities rather than warfare. Calamities are somewhat under players' control, and can be managed by purchase of appropriate tools.

Alien Legacy

The game includes elements of city construction, research, resource management, industrial production and combat. Players must colonize a star system light-years from Earth by building planetary cities
and Space Stations. Several advisors guide the player through the plot and a PDA reminds the player of important tasks as objectives revealed as the scenario progresses. Given sufficient player immersion
the game atmosphere may add to the experience of ensuring the survival of mankind. The game progresses in real-time but the game speed can be adjusted.

Ascendancy

The player takes on the role of leader of an alien species tasked with guiding their people into space to explore and colonize other worlds. The player does this by building structures and space ships, researching technology and growing stronger through war or diplomacy. Players begin with a single colony planet which must be developed. They can select several types of buildings to construct
on the planet's surface and can eventually construct spaceships and leave the planet altogether. Ships travel to other solar systems along determined paths, called star lanes. Spaceships can peacefully colonize unoccupied planets or invade inhabited planets and usurp structures. They can also do battle with enemy planets or other ships.

Command & Conquer

Command & Conquer involves players operating as one of two playable factions on a map - the Global Defense Initiative (GDI), and the Brotherhood of Nod - developing bases, gathering resources and
using them to produce troops, and then defeating their opponents by eliminating their army and either destroying or capturing their base. Base production and unit training is funded by gathering Tiberium
the game's sole resource, through the use of harvesting units, and processing them into credits through a refinery structure. Each faction has its own unique types of units, its own superweapon, and its own
combat strategy: GDI relies on superior firepower and armour at the expense of greater production costs and slower movement while Nod relies on a combination of numerical superiority, superior speed
and unconventional tactics, generally at the expense of less firepower and poor durability

Command & Conquer Red Alert

Players can queue commands, create unit groups that can be selected by a number key, and control numerous units at a time. The game features two factions with differing styles of play. Like Tiberian Dawn, the game has split routes for most missions. The objective stays the same but the map layout differs. The single-player campaign is complemented by live-action cinematic sequences. Red Alert requires each player to use their side's strengths in order to compensate for their weaknesses in contrast to games such as Total Annihilation or Warcraft II - Tides of Darkness, in which both sides have units with similar abilities and rely on outnumbering or possessing a better-balanced force than their opponent.

Civilization

Civilization is a turn-based single or multiplayer strategy game. The player takes on the role of the ruler of a civilization starting with one (or occasionally two) settler units, and attempts to build an empire in competition with two to seven other civilizations. The game requires a fair amount of micromanagement (although less than other simulation games). Along with the larger tasks of exploration warfare and diplomacy, the player has to make decisions about where to build new cities, which improvements or units to build in each city which advances in knowledge should be sought (and at what rate) and how to transform the land surrounding the cities for maximum benefit.

The player takes the role of the commander of one of the three interplanetary houses, the Atreides, the Harkonnen or the Ordos with the objective of wresting control of Arrakis from the other two houses. House Ordos is not featured in the Dune novels and is mentioned only in the non-canon Dune Encyclopedia. Midwinter

The game is set in 2099 when the entire world is covered in snow and ice in a post-apocalyptic scenario, on the 160,000-square-mile (410,000 km2) isle of Midwinter. The game package includes a lengthy manual narrating its backstory in a short novella. It describes a cataclysmic meteorite strike in Burma around 2040 which caused an impact winter. The ensuing diamond dust covering the Earth brought about global cooling and consequently major economical, political and military tumult. The northern population died of glaciation and famine whereas the more temperate zones became overcrowded due to migration. As the glaciers advanced, the sea level dropped providing more habitable space.

North & South

Taking a simplified board interface, the game features a strategic map of the United States separated into states and territories, where army units are moved around. In each state which has a railway station
there is a fort, the capture of which leads to the player overtaking the whole state. Otherwise, capturing a state involves simple movement unless there is an enemy army present on the state's title. Armies can
be reinforced in two ways. By turning on an option at the main menu the player controlling the state of North Carolina will get periodic reinforcements by ship. Also, railways generate money which in turn
generates soldiers. Moving their army units, the player may expand westwards into unoccupied territory. If two antagonistic armies clash it will result in a battle.

Populous

The games involved the player taking on the role of a deity and leading followers into battle against opposing deities, and intervene by using a variety of "divine intervention" that affect the world and indirectly the people. The first two games were similar. In Populous and Populous II Trials of the Olympian Gods, much emphasis was spent on flattening the terrain. The view of the game-world was isometric. Populous The Beginning was more like a conventional war-game than a god-game and uses
true 3D instead of isometric 3D. In Populous  The Beginning, the player is set in the role of a shaman instead of a god, but at the end of the game attains godhood.

Strip Poker

Strip Poker is a series of erotic video games developed by Artworx. It ran from 1982–1995 over five games. The player is a presumed male who plays strip poker against attractive women. The games received generally positive reviews over the series history. Critics appreciated the game's sense of humour and for effectively using their limited graphics to create titillating imagery. Others felt that a video game was a depressing way for players to view such content, when alternatives like Playboy were available.

Seal Team

One of the best 3D tactical combat simulations, I really don't know why this game never made it into any Hall of Fame. In SEAL Team, you will assemble a 4-member SEAL team to carry out missions in the Mae Khong Delta during the Vietnam War. Missions cover a wide range, including espionage, rescue, recon, and demolition. The game's graphical and sound atmospheres are excellent (you'll know enemies are nearby from the boot-cracking sounds), as is the authenticity of hand signals weapons, medals, and so on. There are dozens of SEAL commandos under your command, and you must be careful to let them all
experience combat, or you might end up with only a handful of veterans but dozens of "green" soldiers.
